Story retelling

God planted a garden in Eden and placed Adam there to work it and take care of it. Then God made Eve, and the two of them lived in the garden with God.

God told them they could eat from any tree except one: the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. A crafty serpent tempted Eve, and she ate the fruit and gave some to Adam. Right away they felt ashamed and hid from God.

Disobeying God brought sadness and trouble into the world, and Adam and Eve had to leave the garden. But God still made clothes for them and cared for them. The Bible's big story shows how God keeps working to make things right again.

What Christians believe

When we choose to do wrong, the Bible calls it sin. Sin hurts our friendship with God and with others. Adam and Eve hid, but God came looking for them. God still loves us when we make wrong choices, and he offers forgiveness.

Bible text
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
