Saul was a religious leader who was trying to stop people from following Jesus. He even had them arrested. He set off for the city of Damascus to find more believers.
On the road a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice: 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?' 'Who are you, Lord?' Saul asked. 'I am Jesus.' When Saul got up, he couldn't see, and his friends led him into Damascus.
God told a believer named Ananias to go and pray for Saul. Ananias was afraid, but he obeyed. When Ananias placed his hands on Saul, something like scales fell from his eyes and he could see! Saul was baptized and began telling everyone that Jesus is the Son of God. He later became known as Paul and travelled the world sharing the good news.
No one is too far away for Jesus to reach. Saul went from hurting Christians to becoming one of the most important teachers of the church. This is grace: God's kindness that we don't earn.
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.
