God spoke to a man named Abram and told him to leave his country and go to a land God would show him. God promised to bless Abram and to bless all the families of the earth through him.
Abram didn't know exactly where he was going, but he packed up and went, with his wife Sarai and his nephew Lot. They travelled to the land of Canaan.
Later, Abram and Sarai still had no children. God took Abram outside and said, 'Look at the sky and count the stars, if you can. That's how many people will be in your family.' Abram believed God. God later changed their names to Abraham and Sarah.
Trusting God means believing he will do what he says, even when we can't see how. Abraham is remembered as a man of faith because he trusted God's promise.
Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding.
